 A seniors residence is not a nursing home. It's independent living with everything looked after for you. You can participate in as much as you would like or it can be assisted living and you can do nothing. The main difference between a seniors residence and a long term care facility is "Freedom". Although there is 24hr supervision you can come and go as you like if you just let staff know your leaving. Also you will never be alone as there is always someone to talk to.

What A Seniors Residence Is Not
The main misconception that people have about a seniors residence is that it's a prison with many rules and regulations. The only rules are that you respect the people around you which applies to everyday life anyway. Although there is some structure with regards to meal times all residence are free to actively live they way they choose.
Assisted living is really the main focus with any seniors residence but not all seniors require it and therefore can live with or without assistance from the staff. On the other hand staff can help with many everyday task to make the quality of life better as needed.
